Pella Glass Railing Systems: The Wellington Owner’s Guide

We stock and install Pella-compatible glass railing systems throughout Wellington, with most residential replacements running between $1,800 and $4,200 installed depending on panel count, hardware type, and whether the posts are surface-mounted or fascia-mounted. In most cases we can complete the swap in a single visit, and we carry the common Pella post hardware, gaskets, and tempered glass panels on the truck. What brings most Wellington homeowners to us is a panel that has started to wobble, a post that has worked loose from the pool deck, or hardware that has corroded to the point where the panel no longer sits true.

If you have a Pella glass railing system and something does not look or feel right, the fastest way to get an answer is to call (561) 349-4826. We’ll tell you what we think over the phone and schedule a free estimate if the job needs eyes on it.

Which Pella Models This Applies To

Pella has offered glass railing systems as part of its patio door and outdoor living line for years, sold under names like the Pella Reserve and Architect Reserve outdoor collections. The glass panels themselves are typically 12mm or 15mm tempered glass, cut to fit between aluminum or stainless steel posts. The posts are the part that needs the most attention in a coastal Florida climate, because the fasteners and base plates take the brunt of the salt air and pool chemistry.

One compatibility gotcha we see regularly in Wellington: Pella glass railing posts are not universally drilled. The hole pattern on a Reserve post from 2015 will not always line up with the base plate on a 2021 panel. Before you order anything, check the underside of the top rail or the inside face of an end post for a small white sticker with the Pella order number and series code. That number is the only reliable way to match the part, and we always ask for it before quoting. If the sticker is gone, we measure the post profile and the glass thickness on site. For older Pella systems where OEM hardware is discontinued, we carry quality aftermarket equivalents from Andersen, and PGT that match the post dimensions and meet the same tempered glass standard. We’ll show you the OEM price and the aftermarket price side by side on paper so you can decide with your eyes open.

Signs Your Pella Glass Railing Systems Is Failing

  • Panel wobble at the top corner. This usually means the glass clamp rubber has compressed or the clamp itself has loosened from years of thermal expansion. If left alone, the glass will eventually sit metal-on-metal and chip.
  • Rust bleeding from the base plate. In Wellington’s humidity and pool-side environments, powder-coated aluminum posts can still corrode where the coating was scratched during the original install. Once the base plate starts to lift, the post loses its load path.
  • Milky or white haze along the bottom edge of the glass. That is water wicking into the gasket channel and sitting against the glass lamination. It will not clear up on its own, and it is a sign the weep holes in the bottom rail are blocked or were never drilled correctly.
  • Spider cracks radiating from a drilled hole. Tempered glass in railing systems is drilled before tempering. If a crack appears at a hole, the panel has been over-stressed, usually because a post shifted and put the glass into a bind.
  • Gate no longer latches square. The latch will tell you the truth about the whole run. If a railing gate sags or the striker no longer lines up, one of the end posts has moved, and the glass panels are now carrying weight they were never designed to carry.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

In Wellington, a straightforward single-panel replacement on an existing Pella system typically runs $320 to $680 installed, including the tempered glass panel, new gaskets, and hardware adjustment. A full post-and-panel replacement for a typical 30-foot run around a pool deck lands between $2,400 and $4,200, depending on whether we are reusing the existing post bases or drilling new ones. The biggest cost driver is usually the number of posts, not the number of glass panels. Posts are where the labor is.

What drives the range:

  • Surface-mounted posts are easier to set than fascia-mounted posts that cantilever from the pool beam.
  • If the existing post bases are still sound, we can often reuse them and save you real money.
  • Stainless steel hardware costs more than powder-coated aluminum, but it holds up better within splash distance of a saltwater pool.

Every quote is a written line-item price. The quote we hand you is the price you pay unless we find something hidden and get your okay in writing before touching it. Our workmanship is covered by the Done Right Promise, and the manufacturer’s warranty on any replacement panel or hardware is registered in writing before our truck leaves your driveway. That is The Keystone Standard, and it is not negotiable.

DIY or Call Us?

Glass railing panels are heavy, tempered, and under constant stress. A 15mm tempered panel for a 36-inch rail section weighs 70 pounds or more. When tempered glass lets go, it does not crack slowly like annealed glass; it shatters all at once into thousands of small cubes. If a post base is pulling out of a pool deck or a clamp has loosened, that panel is holding just enough energy to turn a simple repair into a trip to the ER.

What you can safely do: check every post base for visible rust or lifting, gently press on each panel to feel for movement, and take photos of any sticker or label you can find. What you should not do: remove the glass from a post, loosen the base plate bolts, or attempt to shim a panel that is sitting out of level. If the panel moves more than a quarter inch at the top, stop using that section and call (561) 349-4826. We’ll measure it, match it, and set it right.

PPat and Ray L.
★★★★★

"Our bay window had rotted at the sill and two other outfits wanted to talk us into a flat picture window instead. TruePane rebuilt the opening and matched the original look. Neighbors have knocked on the door about it."

GGene A.
★★★★★

"A casement crank had stripped and the sash was swollen shut. The technician, Ray, fixed the crank on the spot and only then talked about replacement for the three windows that were genuinely done. That is why the whole street uses them now."
