Which Pella Models This Applies To

- The door scrapes the threshold only after noon. That’s the slab bowing with heat and humidity, which means a lower hinge has worn or the frame has shifted. In Wellington, where a west-facing door sees direct sun from about 1 p.m. onward, this failure shows up first on the hinge side.
- The latch misses the strike plate by an eighth inch in summer, then works again in January. Seasonal expansion is normal in Florida, but a persistent miss means the frame was shimmed out of true, or a hinge leaf has stretched. Removing a hinged Pella slab means lifting 60 to 90 pounds off its hinges, and if a hinge pin binds mid-lift, the slab can drop and take a hand or a foot with it.
